As we approach the 21st anniversary of his release from prison the celebrated 92 year old Nobel Peace Prize laureate is once again celebrated though song and this time by a rapper, PoBox, the leader of the band Kwani Experience and The Po Box Project, his solo project.<\/p>\n<p>The rapper-poet wrote the song after last year\u2019s heated Mandela Day Facebook debate he was part of and after noticing how opinionated and divided the youth and the older generation are when talking about Nelson Mandela. In the midst of anti Mandela fanatics and those who religiously embrace the world peace icon at constant loggerheads, PoBox, real name Kwelagobe Sekele decided to write a song about the beautiful legacy Mandela represents. The song, \u2018Mandela The Symbol\u2019 will be available on his upcoming debut album \u2018Maru: Part 1\u2019. PoBox says the idea for the song firstly came when he started putting together a compilation of Mandela songs in 2009 and was initially supposed to be done by his band Kwani Experience.<\/p>\n<p>The first edition of his two-part album will be released in April. The rapper says he looks forward to performing the material from his debut project and also hitting the stage again with Kwani Experience after a long Sabbatical. He\u2019s also part of a Rap\/Electro\/Rock collaboration project titled Battle Cock with members of the band BPJ.
