{"id":3663,"date":"2011-07-18T22:08:26","date_gmt":"2011-07-18T22:08:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.faceofmalawi.com\/?p=3663"},"modified":"2011-07-18T22:08:26","modified_gmt":"2011-07-18T22:08:26","slug":"temwa-employ-top-candidate-to-oversee-new-fair-trade-microfinance-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.faceofmalawi.com\/index.php\/2011\/07\/18\/temwa-employ-top-candidate-to-oversee-new-fair-trade-microfinance-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Temwa Employ Top Candidate to Oversee New Fair Trade Microfinance Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Temwa is pleased to announce that a new member of staff has\u00a0joined the team in Malawi to manage our new Microfinance project, recently launched in partnership with Deki.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3664\" style=\"width: 249px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3664\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3664\" title=\"microloan_image_1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.faceofmalawi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/microloan_image_1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"161\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3664\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pic By Temwa.Org<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This project offers a uniquely personal and easy approach to microfinance by allowing individuals around the world to invest as little as \u00a310 in borrowers hoping to generate income within their communities.<\/p>\n<p>Overseeing these micro-finances will be Mr McSamuel Phinde, who once worked as a agriculture extension officer for the Malawian government is experienced in working with NGO\u2019s and giving loans to small holder farmers.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Phindes extensive agricultural knowledge as well as his prior involvement in Microfinance\u2019s is why he was identified as top candidate for the position.<\/p>\n<p>He will be moving to Usisya next week to begin meetings with village headman who have already been working within their communities to inform village members and discuss the project.<\/p>\n<p>McSamuel will then be carrying out meetings with particular individuals looking to start up their own businesses. The first group of microfinance candidates will be selected by early August.<\/p>\n<p>Each chosen candidate will be assigned to committee of other candidates who will then help to self manage the group. Depending on the business venture, one committee member at a time will receive a loan whilst the rest of the group encourages them to pay it back so that they then will have their turn.<\/p>\n<p>This will make it possible for those previously denied access to finance to set up small businesses and work themselves out of poverty.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to officially welcoming Mr Phinde to the team and are so excited to use his skills and experiences to help in making the new Deki microfinance project a big success.<\/p>\n<p>Watch for new updates on the progress of this project in the coming weeks.
