{"id":3119,"date":"2011-07-01T15:16:17","date_gmt":"2011-07-01T15:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.faceofmalawi.com\/?p=3119"},"modified":"2011-07-01T15:16:17","modified_gmt":"2011-07-01T15:16:17","slug":"malawi-queens-at-world-netball-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.faceofmalawi.com\/index.php\/2011\/07\/01\/malawi-queens-at-world-netball-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi Queens at World Netball Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> The Malawi national netball team leaves for Singapore Wednesday to participate in the World Championships which takes place from July 3-10.<\/p>\n<p>Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general-secretary Hellen Mpinganjira told\u00a0<em>Nyasa Times<\/em> that a squad of 12 players has made it for Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>The new-look squad include Australia based Mwayi \u2018Professor\u2019 Kumwenda, newly installed captain Grace \u2018Pincord\u2019 Mwafulirwa, Sindi \u2018Sniper\u2019 Simutowe and Joyce Mvula.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_37874\">\n<div id=\"attachment_3120\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3120\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3120\" title=\"Malawi_lineup-400x251\" src=\"http:\/\/www.faceofmalawi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Malawi_lineup-400x251.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"251\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3120\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New-look Malawi Queens. Photo by Jeromy Kadewere\/Nyasa Times<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Others are Ellen Chibokho, Beatrice Kadango, Bridget Kumwenda, Tinna Kamuyambeni, Florence Chirwa, Joanna Kachilika, Caroline Ngwira and Towera Vinkhumbo.<\/p>\n<p>Malawi Queens will fly via South Africa to Hong Kong before jetting to Singapore on Thursday where Mwayi Kumwenda will join them the same day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team will have a warm-up friendly match with world number one netball side New Zealand on July 1,\u201d Mpinganjira disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>She said a final build-up match will be on July 2 against Sri Lanka before the tournament gets under way.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Edith Kaliati said the morale in the camp \u201cis very high\u201d and that the \u201cvibe is just awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really believe we will do the nation proud at the World Championship,\u201d said the coach asking for prayers from Malawians.<\/p>\n<p>The Queens start their campaign against England on Monday 4 July before facing Malaysia and Barbados in Pool D.<\/p>\n<p>The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the quarter-finals with the final to take place on Sunday 10 July.<\/p>\n<h2>World Netball Championship 2011 Live Online<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0World Championship\u00a0of the Netball 2011 will start from 3 July 2011 and it will be interesting to see how this years event goes about. Its the 13th edition of the Championship and this time it is being held in Singapore. All 48 matches will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and it will be a sight to savour as this is one of the best modern day stadiums. This is one of\u00a0the finest\u00a0stadiums which was build in 1989 and cost like $90 Millions. Last time the Netball World Cup was held in New Zealand Auckland and this time Australia and Singapore were in the hunt to host which Singapore won.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore Automaticaly qualified in the games and now they will be hoping to get some good results in the games, other big teams which qualified in the result of 2007 World Championships are Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, England and Malawi other 1o teams which qualified in the result of qualifications. We will have all the live action from the World of Netball and it will be all live and available here throughout the 7 days of the Championship.
