Protesters in Blantyre have gathered at Kamuzu Upper Stadium for demonstrations organised by Human Rights Defenders Forum (HRDC) pushing for the removal of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah.
UTM vice-president Michael Usi and patron Noel Masangwi have arrived at the upper stadium.
Also in attendance is Malawi Congress Party (MCP) campaign director Moses Kunkuyu.
A suspected Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) functionary has been whisked away in a police Land Cruiser through Kamuzu Stadium as angry protesters bayed for his blood.
Malawi Defence Force (MDF) troops are standing by at Axa Bus Terminal next to Chichiri Shopping Centre which is currently closed for business.
