The draft act now requires the president’s approval to become law.

Although the last execution was carried out in 2005 courts have continued to impose the death penalty.

Human rights groups hailed the vote as a milestone in Zimbabwe’s journey towards human rights and dignity.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is now expected to sign the bill into law.
