Death has been announced of Traditional Authority (TA) Gumba of Mchinji District, who died early hours of Thursday at Kamuzu Central Hospital in the capital city of Lilongwe.
In a press statement released Thursday by Mchinji District Council public relations officer Vincent Khonje said that the late chief Gumba died after a short illness.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Traditional Authority (T/A) Gumba, real name Faneli Lemekani, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday, 5th December, at Kamuzu Central Hospital’s Ethel Mutharika Private Wing,
“The late T/A Gumba was initially admitted to Mchinji District Hospital before being transferred to Kamuzu Central Hospital, where she succumbed after a short illness,” reads the statement.
According to Khonje, tentatively, on Friday, December 6, the remains of the late T/A Gumba will be taken to her headquarters at Khwazi.
Burial is expected to take place on Saturday, December 7.
