MEC Condemns Double Registration, Warns of Severe Consequences

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has strongly condemned the practice of double registration, following the case of Bisias Elton Nkhoma, who was found guilty of registering twice in Blantyre City.

Nkhoma has been ordered to pay a fine of K200,000 or face two years imprisonment.

According to Richard Mveriwa, MEC Spokesperson, “Double registration is a serious offense under electoral laws, and this ruling serves as a clear warning that such actions will not be tolerated.”

The Commission urges all citizens to respect electoral laws and participate in the democratic process responsibly.
