Police in Limbe, Blantyre, have arrested two women from Chigumula on suspicion of detaining an Indian national against their will and demanding K20 million in ransom.
Limbe Police spokesperson Mulimbika Chibisa confirmed the incident, identifying the suspects as Thoko Mwale, a prison officer, and Lisa Utonga Blair, a businesswoman.
According to Chibisa, investigations are ongoing to locate a Nigerian national, Martin Omega, who is believed to have been involved in the case.
Police continue to investigate the matter to ensure justice is served.
