AIP Workers Demand Salaries, Say They Haven’t Been Paid for Two Months

Spokesperson for the Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM), Grace Thipa, has denied allegations made by some workers deployed at Affordable Input Program (AIP) selling points regarding unpaid salaries.

The workers claim they have not been paid for the past two months, leaving them struggling to meet basic needs such as paying rent and buying food.

One of the concerned workers, Limbani Banda from Lilongwe, expressed frustration over the delays, saying that life has become increasingly difficult for them.

Another worker, Chikondi Chijozi, questioned why the company has not addressed their concerns, adding to the mounting dissatisfaction among the staff.

In response, Thipa clarified that the 2024/2025 AIP program was only officially launched in October, and the SFFRFM is working to resolve the matter.

She refuted the claims of salary withholding, assuring that the program’s implementation is ongoing and the issue will be addressed soon.
