United Transformation Movement (UTM) has asked government through President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to stop threatening opposition political parties ahead of the 2025 polls.
The party made the call during a media briefing at its headquarters in Area 10, Lilongwe.
According to the party, the arrest of its Secretary General Patricia Kaliati as politically motivated aimed at bringing confusion in the party.
The party through its Youth Director Fredokiss, real name Penjani Kalua demanded for the immediate release of Kaliati.
Kalua also urged the Malawi Police Service (MPS) to respect the principals of democracy as provided in the constitution of Malawi.
Some of the top officials who attended the briefing include Newtown Kambala, Felix Njawala and others.
