Reports reaching our news desk indicate that a vehicle carrying maize caught fire near the roadblock at Thabwa in Chikwawa district.
The vehicle, with the number plate NU 10977, was traveling from Ntcheu to East Bank in Chikwawa.
The driver, Anthony Chiwaya, stated that the vehicle started burning after one of the front tires exploded.
So far, there have been no reported injuries from the incident. Residents from the nearby villages managed to rescue some of the maize that the vehicle was transporting.
