Deputy Inspector General Casper Chalera will be laid to rest on Friday in his home village of Matako, under Chief Lukwa in Kasungu.
His relatives, including Esau Saka, shared that family and friends came together to mourn him, noting that Chalera was a strong support for them.
Meanwhile, Peter Kalaya, the police spokesperson, said that Chalera’s death is a big loss for the police force.
He had served for 36 years and played a key role in improving police operations. In 2022, he was promoted to deputy police chief.
