Police in Kasungu have arrested a 25-year-old named Precious Pilirani for being in possession of an unlicensed pangolin.
According to Miracle Hauli, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Pilirani was arrested on the 22nd of this month at a trading center called Madisi in Dowa District.
“On that day, forest officials from the Kasungu Wildlife Authority, alerted by concerned citizens, found Pilirani attempting to sell the pangolin to another individual. At that time, the officials were able to apprehend both Pilirani and the buyer,” Hauli stated.
Pilirani, who hails from the village of Madisi under the Chakhaza chiefdom in Dowa District, is expected to appear in court soon to face charges.
