Chigumukile Ward Councillor in Nsanje Honest Sande has resigned from the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) with immediate effect.
Sande has since joined the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which is led by former President Peter Mutharika.
He said he has resigned from the party and joined DPP following advise from the people in his Ward.
Sande has since promised to vigorously campaign for Mutharika ahead of the 2025 polls.
