Villagers living in Engucwini, Kamwe, Kalama, Kasuma, Madise and Elunyeni in Mzimba North have sounded an SOS over the condition of Kasitu Bridge which is currently labelled as a ‘death trap.’
Villagers from the mentioned areas passes the bridge when traveling to Mzuzu order goods or ply their business everyday.
In the photos and videos shared by one of the concerned villagers from Kamwe identified as Soka Chitaya, passengers who boarded a minibus are seen being offloaded to allow the minibus cross the bridge while empty.
The passengers are scene crossing the bridge while on foot as prepositionally measures.
According Chitaya, the bridge is in dilapidated state and an urgent solution is needed.
