The newly appointed National Director of Women in the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Mary Navicha has officially been welcome at a ceremony held in Blantyre yesterday.
DPP leader Peter Mutharika who is also former Malawi President fired Cecilia Chazama on the post and replaced her with Navicha earlier this year.
Chazama was fired on grounds that she attended and chaired the National Governing Council (NGC) meeting sanctioned by the former DPP Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey.
The welcoming ceremony started with prayers where DPP women league prayed for Navicha as she takes up a new role of leading all women across the country.
In her remarks Navicha promised to remain royal to the party leadership.
Similar function is scheduled to be held in East, Central and Northern region.
