Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara has slapped Zomba Central MP Bester Awali with a 10 day suspension during Committee meetings for violent conduct after he had thrown a water.
Hara announced this in Parliament today after the government side withdrew a motion which was seeking the removal of Sameer Suleman as Chairperson of the Agriculture Committee following a string of incidents of misconduct.
Gotani Hara said she has given a lenient punishment after DPP leadership apologized and regretted the incident.
She also said another mitigation factor is that this was the first time for Awali to misbehave in such a manner.
