Police in Ntcheu is keeping in custody a 29Â year-old man for allegedly defiling a 5-year-old girl.
Spokesperson for Ntcheu Police station, Jacob Khembo has identified the suspect as Steven Wizilamu who was arrested yesterday on Tuesday by  Female police officers under “Basad” operation.
According to Khembo, it is reported that the incident happened in the afternoon of December 3 when the child was playing with her friends as her mother had gone to Chimwaye market in the district.
“In the course of playing, the suspect enticed the victim and took her behind their house where he carnally knew the child,” Khembo said.
It is further reported that a 12-year-old brother to the victim caught Steven in the act and informed his aunt who later reported the incident to the police.
“The victim was issued a medical form and examination results showed that the victim was sexually victimized,” he said.
