Lilongwe Police Station has on Thursday Morning, December 7, 2023 impounded 21 motorcycles for exceeding seating capacity, and failure to put on crush helmet.
The exercise of the same has come about after the station noted that non compliance by motorcyclists to observe road traffic rules and regulations, is resulting into accidents that have left both riders, and passengers with life threatening injuries.
On average, Lilongwe Police Station register 50 road accidents per month involving motorcycles.
Lilongwe Police Traffic officers will continue to enforce the carrying capacity of a single pillion passenger, and putting on, of crush helmet to help minimize the impact when motorcycle accident occurs.
