A-39-year old woman identified as Lizie Kanyotha of Kanyotha Village under Traditional Authority Kachulu in Rumphi has died from drug overdose.
According to Rumphi Police station spokesperson Sergeant Tupeliwe Kabwilo late Kanyotha took the medication on June 12, 2023 at her home village, Mantchewe, Livingstonia area.
Kawilo said the deceased is said to have quarrelled with her husband and assaulted him following a fight that ensued.
Following the incident the husband reported the matter to police and later the parents of Kanyotha invited her for counselling but this did not go well with her.
She later went to her home and took unprescribed dose of medicine that led her falling unconscious and she died Wednesday night at David Gordon Memorial Hospital.
