A 27 year old woman identified as Maria Belenito from Nsambo Village, in the area of Traditional Authority Likoswe in Chiradzulu District was found dead on Monday after being washed away by running water from Lidye stream.
Public Relations Officer for Chiradzulu Police, Constable Cosmas Kagulo confirmed the development saying the deceased met her fate when she was returning home from her parent’s home where she went to pay them visit.
“The deceased slipped into running water and she was washed away as she was crossing to the other side, her body was found the other day along the river bank,” said Kagulo.
The matter was reported to police who rushed to the scene together with a medical practitioner where postmortem conducted revealed that the death was due to suffocation secondary to drowning.
