A 10 year old boy identified as Bruno Chinziri has died after he drowned in Nalikokote dam in Mangochi district.
Spokesperson for Mangochi Police Station, Amina Tepani Daudi confirmed the development.
According to Daudi, the incident took place on Sunday January 8, 2023 within Maldeco Fisheries in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Mponda in the district.
Bruno’s father told the police that he left his son playing together with his three friends at home and went to attend church meetings on the day.
“It is reported that Bruno and his friends decided to go to the said dam without parents’ knowledge and while swimming he went to a deeper part where he drowned,” Daudi explained.
