Police in Thyolo have launched a manhunt for unknown people who have raped and killed a 12 year old girl in the district.
Thyolo Police deputy spokesperson, Rabecca Kashoti has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Kashoti, the deceased’s body was found on Tuesday, near Namitete river banks, with both arms and legs tied.
Kashoti said, the girl who was in standard 8 at Ntambanyama primary school, and hailed from Ganiza village in the area of Traditional Authority Kapichi, was abducted after her part-time lessons on Monday.
Postmortem shows death was caused by suffocation secondary to strangulation.
