A 48-year-old man named Peter Timothy has tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning in Neno District, along the banks of the Mkulumadzi river.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening as Timothy and his friends attempted to cross the swollen river following a heavy downpour.
Neno police detective Kelly Bulambo confirmed the tragic event and stated that the body of the deceased is currently in his home village of Kamoto in the area of Senior Chief Dambe.
The police are investigating the incident and have advised people to watchful during bad weather conditions.
