Central East Police Regional public relations officer Ester Chigalu has confirmed the arrest of three family members of a 3 year old albino child who was murdered last week by unknown people while sleeping.
Chigalu has identified the three as Joyce Nkhoma, aged 40, grandmother to the deceased, Cosmas Divala Ngwira, 46 and Kennedy Nyirenda, 28 all related to deceased.
The arrest came after a visit by Malawi Human Rights Commissioner responsible for Disability and the Elderly Boniface Massa and Police Commisser for Central East Region, Noel Kayira in the area on Friday.
It is alleged that the unknown assailants broke into a house in which the toddler was sleeping with her grandmother where they stabbed her and chopped off her arm at Traditional Authority (T\A) Chulu in Kasungu.
