Former Zambian president Edgar Lungu celebrates 66th birthday in opposition

Former president of Zambia Edgar Chagwa Lungu is today celebrating his 66^th birthday.

Lungu was born on November 11, 1956 and was the 6^th republican president of Zambia.

He has ruled Zambia for 6 years from 2015 – 2021 and lost power to his long term rival Hakainde Hichilema of United Party for National Development (UPND).

Apart from serving the highest office in Zambia, Lungu also served as the Minister of Defense from 2013-2015.

His rule was accused of massive corruption and tribalism.

After losing the general elections in 2021, Lungu hinted that he will not be active in politics and paved way for new blood to lead.
