One of the Cashgate suspects Steve Phiri has applied for bail after his re-arrest on Monday.
Justice Ruth Chinangwa revoked Phiri’s bail after State witness Stanford Mpoola told the court that Phiri texted him in the course of hearing of the matter yesterday; asking why he was implicating other people.
The court is set to deliver it’s ruling on the bail application later today.
Mpoola implicated former President Dr. Joyce Banda and Brown Mpinganjira in the case, saying the two benefited from cashgate money.
He said one of the cashgate convict instructed him to deliver the money to the two then.
Banda is yet to comment on the matter.
