Tonse Squabbles Draw PAC Attention

Following cracks that have emerged in the governing Tonse Alliance, the quasi-religious group Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has said it is ready to have talks with the concerned parties if possible to unite them,

This follows different statement on the agreement of the alliance made by the two major alliance partners United Transformation Movement (UTM) and Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

On Friday, July 1st, 2022 UTM leader who is also the country’s State vice President Saulos Chilima revealed that inside the Tonse Alliance agreement there is a rotation of power.

But MCP secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka dismissed Chilima remarks and refuted the existence of the said document adding that in the next elections the party will respect the country’s supreme laws.

A development which has shocked UTM, according to Frank Mwenifumbo, UTM’s spokesperson.

In his remarks, PAC publicist Gilford Matonga while describing the speech by vice president Chilima as unexpected, he said they are ready to mediate with the concerned parties in the process resolving the matter amicably.
