Information reaching this publication indicates that the Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has revoked licence of Rainbow Television.
According to information at hand, the Licence has been revoked due to failure by the management to pay Licence fees.
This has been confirmed in a statement signed by MACRA Director General Daudi Suleman seen by this publication.
“The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) would like to inform the general public that it has revoked the Television Content Licence for Rainbow Television for substantial breach of a condition of the licence namely, failure to pay annual licence fees set under the licence,” reads in part the statement.
According to the statement, the revocation of licence is with effect from June 9, 2022.
