Malawi’s Accountant General Jean Munyenyembe is reported to have left the country with informing the office of the Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC).
Munyenyembe left the country at a time Fiscal Police is currently investigating her office of irregular transactions.
A senior official from the office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has described the incident as irregular since all principal secretaries are expected to inform the SPC when they undertake a trip outside the country.
Secretary to Treasury Mafuta Mwale while he could not indicate if he was officially informed of the trip said that Munyenyembe is in Kenya and expected back home soon.
