An angry mob on Tuesday night descended on a resthouse called Mulungu Samana at Chintheche Trade Centre in Nkhata Bay district destroying property right now.
According to information at hand, the resthouse was accommodating National Statistical office (NSO) staff conducting a Behavioural Biological Surveilance Survey (BBSS).
The angry mob is accusing the NSO staff of being blood suckers as their survey apparently includes collection of blood samples of participants who include commercial sex workers.
It took the intervention of the law enforcers to disperse the angry mob by firing teargas.
Unproven stories of blood suckers have spread from Mzimba, Kasungu, Ntchisi, Dowa, Mchinji and now Nkhata Bay.
So far over 50 people have been arrested in connection to bloodsucking rumours.
